Kimron Veterinary Institute

Our team has developed a long-term expertise in diagnostic, molecular epidemiology and research of pathogenicity factors of mycoplasmas found in animal livestock, pets and wildlife with more precisely focus on ruminant and avian mycoplasmas.

The focal points of our mycoplasma research are the following:

  • Molecular epidemiological studies using MLST, NGS data of mycoplasma isolates, isolated from local dairy farms as well as from calves imported to Israel from different European countries.
  • Molecular mechanisms of M. bovis antimicrobial resistance.
  • Identification of virulence determinants and genes affecting M. bovis virulence.
  • Development of in vitro and in vivo model systems to study the pathogenesis of M. bovis disease.
